Our Specialism

In a very short space of time Voyager developed a local and national reputation for excellence in the arts, both for the work that happens in the academy with the students and for the work that is ongoing with the local and national community.

The quality of curricular and extra-curricular work is evidenced by the award of Artsmark Gold before the end of the first year. Artmark is awarded to locations for excellence in both curricular and extra-curricular provision.

The Media department enters a range of films made by students and staff each year for the Peterborough Young People's Film Awards (POSCARs) . All of the Arts and Media subjects are particularly strong at The Voyager Academy. These include Media, Art, Dance, Drama, Photography and Music and a significant number of events take place in these subjects each year. One of the annual highlights includes the whole school musical production and this year saw a highly successful production of Miss Saigon. Other highlights include the annual dance show ‘Elevations’, the Mayors Parade, the Winter Celebration and other performances celebrating talents and achievement in all of the arts subjects.
Voyager has contributed significantly to the community through its Specialist Status. The Sing Up project provided opportunities for children from all of our primary schools to take part in singing workshops and performances. We are currently working with a number of primary schools on the Arts Award. There has also been significant provision for primary schools in the form of workshops and students visiting to act as artists in residence.

We continue to provide:

  • Opportunities for parents and students to watch performances

  • Opportunities for students to take part in workshops with professionals

  • INSET for Staff at all of our local primary schools
